Dr. Teri Hamlin
Recently retired from the department of education, Dr. Hamlin is now the coordinator of the Northeast Georgia Farm to School pilot program. The Northeast Georgia pilot is a collaborative effort to develop a model farm to school program for Georgia that integrates the best practices of cafeteria, culinary, classroom and community. The student – teacher participation in the educational edible gardens and classroom mobile cooking carts supports the research that students who grow their own food are more likely to try it and like it. Community support has been established though the development of community educational programs, harvest celebrations, a farm to school leadership team, coordination of volunteer trainings, and the development of partnerships with local businesses, civic and government agencies.
